Adam and Megan
The editor of "Adam and Megan: A Story Of One Family's Courage," Carl Skiff, states of story, "It was beautifully written from the start...No fancy stuff, just plain perfection. No tearjerker, it tugged at your heart nonetheless." I somewhat disagree with this statement. While it was beautifully written, I don't feel the piece tugged at my heart as much as it pulled it out and stomped on it. Reading about the childeren struggling to accept their fate, their struggles at recovery and rehabilitation, and their struggles with reintegration into their social circles was absolutely heartbreaking. I am far from the emotional type, especially when it comes to movies or reading stories, but Dave Curtin conveyed the childeren's battles exquisitely. You couldn't help feeling the pain the kids felt throughout. But this story was also one of perseverance. The childeren make the best of their situation, especially Megan. But at the end of the day, the reader walks away, depsite Adam and Megan's can-do attitude, with the realization that this family is in for a tough, long journey, and that life will never be as it once was.
